Font browser is a cool utility to view all fonts on your computer wherever they are. This gives us the convenience of previewing fonts that we have downloaded or fetched from elsewhere before actually installing them. Everything about the font is visible – name, family/subfamily name, face name, unique ID, postscript name, version, etc. We can enter any text we want to preview and in sizes from 8 to 72. Not only that, we can select even the case – upper, lower or mixed. A window on the left shows the list of fonts available in a folder and we can scroll down to view any font. The folder can be located anywhere – local drive, network, CD, removable disk. If we wish to install the fonts we like, it can be done right inside this utility. Fonts can be either temporarily installed or permanently installed with just one click. If installed temporarily, the fonts remain until the next reboot. They can be used in any application just like a permanent font. So if you want some particular exotic font in a multimedia design just for once, you can use it, create a print file or PDF and then forget about it. The font will be uninstalled automatically after a reboot. Great, isn’t it? Fonts can also be uninstalled from Windows through this utility. Simply scroll down to the font and delete it with a click. Thus you need not know its name or verify it in some application and then go back to the fonts folder to uninstall it. In this utility you can see it all at once. The user interface is simplistic. |
